Salicylic Acid: Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) with desmolytic activity. This means salicylic acid gently dissolves the protein bonds (desmosomes) holding the outermost dead skin cells to the skin to exfoliate the skin. Salicylic acid is unique as it can actually penetrate pores to clear them out and has comedolytic properties meaning that it has the ability to inhibit the formation of comedones which are the blemishes that form in skin pores if oil, dirt, or dead skin cells become trapped.
Salicylic acid also has anti-inflammatory activity as it regulates the production of pro-inflammatory signalling molecules (prostaglandins). Salicylic acid is a very effective ingredient to treat acne vulgaris, melasma, congested skin, and photodamage.
Argan Oil: Argan oil is a deeply nourishing oil that has been used on the skin, hair and nails for centuries. It contains oleic acid (an omega 9 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an omega 6 fatty acid) which both help to repair the skin barrier, whilst also possessing antioxidant properties to help defend against environment free radicals and UV radiation. Argan oil is highly potent in antioxidants such as polyphenols and tolcopherols, including vitamin E and ferulic acid.
It also contains coenzyme Q10, an enzyme that is natural found in our bodies that has potent antioxidant activity, and is essential for cellular energy (mitochondria function). Argan oil has also proven to increase skin elasticity and hydration levels, while regulating sebum production.
DERMALRX CKW: Using a combination of two extracts from the Ginger family, this active inhibits 5a-reductase activity to decrease the over-production of sebum. This reduces facial sheen.
NELUPURE: Using extracts from the Egyptian and Sacred Lotus, Nelupure helps to balance the secretion of inflammation and acne-causing sebum. Propanediol, glycerin, nymphaea caerulea flower extract, nelumbo nucifera flower extract balance sebum synthesis and reduce inflammation.
